As the capital of the Shilla Kingdom (B.C. 57 - A.D.
935), Gyongju was the center of a golden period of Korean
culture. The remains of the brilliant culture of the
Shilla Kingdom are preserved as they were. The two supreme
treasures of Gyongju are the Bulguksa Temple, one of
the most beautiful temples in Korea, and Sokkuram (a
stone grotto) known worldwide for the granite statue
of Buddha and its mysterious architectural structure.
Gyongju is located about 350 Km south-east of Seoul,
and transportation is available from Seoul by air, train
or bus. It is old capital of Shilla Kingdom (up to 10th
century) and there are many old cultural remains (many
Buddhist) which was designated by UNESCO as world cultural
heritages. The Hotel Hyundai Gyongju is situated at
the Bomun Lake Resort, 4 miles from downtown Gyongju
